1st & 2nd Grade Clinic

1st & 2nd Grade Clinic

Updated Tuesday September 29, 2015 by Plainview PAL Basketball.

PAL basketball now starts earlier than ever! 1st & 2nd grade clinics have been wildly successful in our first years doing them.

The program begins in early-January. The sessions will be held once a week on a weeknight (M-F) from 6:45-8pm at one of the local area elementary schools including Parkway, Old Bethpage (OBP), Pasadena and Jamaica. There will be 10 sessions during the season.

This is a non-competitive group.  The focus will be nearly 100% on skills, learning and, most of all, FUN. We have secured professional coaches to participate as trainers including the Plainview HS Varsity coach and an assistant head coach at Adelphi University.  The trainers will be in attendance from 7-8pm at least throughout the season to work on skill building for the children.  Their experience and style of coaching will provide a unique and invaluable experience for your child, whether they have played basketball before or not.

Players should come to gym each night with shorts, sneakers, and a drink.   There is no food allowed in the gymnasiums.

We NEED VOLUNTEERS to "step up" as Coaches and Assistant Coaches...As Coach/Asst Coach, you will mostly be relied upon for sending emails (using the easy to use website) as well as participating/supporting the trainers.  You will also be learning a ton from he trainers and will likely be provided a weekly game plan to help provide you information on what the trainers will be working on.  On the off chance a trainer cannot attend, we will be providing a coaches guide to help you develop a practice plan and run an effective practice.  Moreover, this is a great way to give back to the community, but better yet, get involved early w/ your son/daughter as they begin team sports.

REQUESTS....If your child has a friend (or friends) he or she would like to be paired with, we will honor one request.  While we will certainly do our best, multiple requests cannot be guaranteed.
